banished words

From: Google

"… or should it really be 'An uniquely …'? Anyway, the news blog of that industry icon Publishers Weekly has posted a development that’s almost uniquely compelling and poignant, courtesy of Rose Fox, science fiction/fantasy/horror and romance/erotica reviews editor at PW. According to her compelling, poignant, and unique post, 'PW‘s reviews director has issued a ban on the words compelling, unique, and poignant in our reviews.'
Self-publishers and publishing PR department press release writers take note: Don’t feel compelled to use those terms in your blurbs and bulletins any more. Not if you want pickup at PW, no sir (or madam). No matter how unique your subject matter is. Or your situation may become positively poignant."
